The way that the system currently works is that we count the number of users sometime in the hour after the user has clicked "I participated..." Then sometime in the following hour we display the number of users participating. So the number of users participating will display between 1 hour and 2 hours after they have clicked on the "I participated"
Why you may be asking does the system work this way. Well, when we designed the system we designed it to support a lot of people, and so we create a random time for each user to contact our server to prevent server overload on the hour or near the hour. |
